Founded in the late 1700s, the city was named Losantiville. This city was made up of two log houses and many cabins. The pioneer inhabitants were dangerously close to the Indians who had been forced from their land. The governor of Losantiville was the great General St. Clair. He was responsible for changing the name from Losantiville to Cincinnati in honor of the Society of Cincinnati, an organization of Revolutionary War Officers. It was the birth place of America's 27th President William Howard Taft. According to Winston Churchill, Cincinnati was "The most beautiful of America's inland cities."| Search CITY Listings | | Search CITY Listings | | Search CITY Listings | | Search CITY Listings | | Search CITY Listings | | Search CITY Listings | | Search CITY Listings | | Search CITY Listings |
